How I met my co-founders and the rest is history

In 2013, my friend and I created a startup called ‘Upscale Foodie’. While we were both very passionate about what we were doing, we didn’t know how to scale our company to meet the growing demand for our products. So, I went to work for an investment company in Dubai and started following a traditional business model. My friend, on the other hand, decided to focus on his studies in the United States and started working on an engineering degree. A few months after he started his studies, I received a call from him saying that he was quitting his job to work on his startup full time. So, we sold our startup to a private equity firm and he received his investment money. After a short while, he informed me that he was planning to quit his job and focus on his startup full time too. I was so excited to hear this because I knew that he was the perfect person to lead the company and I was looking forward to working with him again.

The journey so far: From zero to hero

In the beginning, we were just a couple of friends who wanted to bring authentic Pakistani food to the rest of the world. After a lot of hard work and some good fortune, we were able to open our first restaurant in Lahore, Pakistan. We were very excited to start this journey and we wanted to do it all by ourselves. But fate had other plans.
